The Electronic Throttle Body (ETC) is the core embodiment of modern engine "Drive-by-Wire" technology. Its working principle is as follows: the Engine Control Unit (ECU) receives request signals from the accelerator pedal and integrates multiple data points such as engine speed, vehicle speed, and AC load to calculate the optimal throttle opening command. This command drives the miniature motor inside the throttle body, which controls the rotation angle of the valve flap via a high-precision gear set, thereby precisely regulating the air intake. The valve position sensor provides real-time feedback on the actual opening, forming a high-precision closed-loop control system that ensures accurate, smooth, and efficient power output.
Features:
Intelligent Electronic Control: Rapid response and precise control enhance the driving experience.
Redundant Design: Dual sensor backup improves system safety and reliability.
Integrated Structure: Motor, sensors, and gears are designed as one unit, making it compact and durable.
High-Temperature Resistance: Aluminum alloy housing effectively dissipates heat, adapting to the harsh environment of the engine compartment.
Applications:
The core function is to regulate engine air intake, directly affecting power output.
Enables functions such as stable idle control, cruise control, and traction control (ASR).
A key component in optimizing the air-fuel ratio, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The production process includes precision die-casting/injection molding to form the main structure, CNC machining to ensure critical dimensions, and精密总成 (precision assembly) in a clean room environment. Finally, each product undergoes performance calibration and functional testing (including full-stroke testing, sensor signal verification, motor response testing, and leak testing) on fully automated test benches to ensure that all performance parameters fully comply with original factory standards.
Replacement Steps:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the intake hose and disconnect the electrical connector and coolant hoses (if applicable).
Clean the intake manifold interface.
Install the new throttle body (using a new gasket) and tighten to the specified torque.
Reconnect all hoses and connectors, and reconnect the battery.
Crucial Step - Throttle Body Adaptation:
After replacement or disconnecting the battery, it is essential to perform a throttle body adaptation (basic settings) using a professional diagnostic tool (e.g., VCDS). This allows the ECU to relearn the minimum and maximum opening positions of the throttle. Failure to do so may result in irregular idle, poor acceleration, and other issues.
